Bengi Baydan completed her high school education at TED Kdz. Ereğli College. Then she
earned a scholarship to Yeditepe University Law Faculty and began her legal education.
During her undergraduate studies, she developed an interest in intellectual property and
digitalization, taking elective courses in this field and completing summer internships.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Yeditepe University, she pursued her
master's degree at Brunel University London. During her master's program, she conducted
research at the intersection of Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology Law,
publishing academic papers. She was also elected as the representative for master's
students and served on the university's councils and meetings on behalf of the Law Faculty
master's students. Additionally, she mentored foreign students as a Peer Leader. Throughout
her educational journey, she participated in numerous Model United Nations and Moot
Courts events, representing her university in various countries such as Spain, France, and
Greece.
For her master's thesis in 2019, she chose the topic "Copyright Ownership of Artificial
Intelligence-generated Works in Anglo-Saxon Law." By blending foreign sources with legal
reasoning, she graduated with Honors. Following her graduation, she collaborated with
Dr. Hayleigh Bosher, a lecturer at Brunel University London, to prepare and submit a paper
on Artificial Intelligence and Copyright Law to the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO).
Upon returning to Turkey, she delivered speeches and conducted training sessions on
artificial intelligence at various conferences and seminars. She also taught a course on
Artificial Intelligence and Law as part of the Personal Data Protection Law curriculum in the
Information Technology Law Master's Program at Istanbul Aydın University. For a semester,
she assumed full responsibility for this course, including curriculum design and exam
preparation.
Bengi Baydan has contributed articles and academic papers on artificial intelligence and
law to various journals and publications, including the Istanbul and Adana Bar Association
Journals. She presented a joint paper titled "Deepfake in Copyright Law Context"
at the International Conference on Law in the Digital Age, which was subsequently published
in book form alongside articles by other academics at the conference.
Currently, Bengi Baydan continues her legal practice in the field of information technology
law while actively engaging in academic research and publishing in the field of
artificial intelligence.
